Meet John

Dedicated to Public Safety and Public Service

Mayor John McCann, a decorated Iraq War veteran, has championed public safety and economic growth in Chula Vista. His leadership has improved infrastructure, increased police presence, & supported local businesses.

“The number one duty of government should always be the safety of our residents. As the Mayor of Chula Vista public safety has been my top priority – from making sure our firefighters have the resources they need to protect the residents, to making sure our police can keep our public safe. As your County Supervisor my priority will be the same. I will support every effort to keep criminals out of our community and free up resources for law abiding residents.”

McCann's Plan

Leadership for Today, Solutions for Tomorrow

McCann’s roadmap focuses on immediate and sustainable strategies to address the pressing issues facing our county.

Public Safety First

Mayor John McCann is committed to keeping our communities safe. He supports increased funding for law enforcement, ensuring our Sheriff’s Department and local police have the resources they need. His leadership in Chula Vista’s wildfire response has demonstrated his ability to protect residents in times of crisis.

Getting Homeless Off the Streets

John McCann has enacted one of the strictest homeless encampment bans in the county. Under his leadership, Chula Vista opened the Otay Village Bridge Shelter, providing homeless individuals with a path to permanent housing, along with access to clean, safe accommodations.

Tijuana Sewage Crisis

The ongoing sewage crisis from Tijuana has severely impacted our coastal communities, threatening public health, marine life, and local businesses. I have been actively working with local, state, and federal officials to secure funding for infrastructure improvements, hold responsible parties accountable, and push for long-term solutions to stop the flow of toxic waste into our waters. South County deserves clean beaches and a safe environment, and I remain committed to ensuring this crisis is addressed with urgency and transparency.

Fight New Taxes & Balance the Budget

Fighting to lower the cost of living by cutting government waste, opposing unnecessary tax hikes, and blocking burdensome policies like the mileage tax and SANDAG tax. Played a key role in defeating these measures.

Veteran Services

As a Navy veteran, John McCann understands the importance of honoring those who have served. As County Supervisor, he will fight to expand healthcare access, job training programs, and essential services for veterans, ensuring they receive the support they have earned.
